KAMARES

Kamares is the biggest coastal village and the port of the island since the dues of the passed century. North of the bay and in the tops of homonym mountains are found the monasteries of Profitis Ilias of Troullaki and Agios Simeon that oversees Kamares night and day. In the foot of the mountains there is Agia Marina. In the opposite side is the dock of the port, shops, rooms for rent, potteries, restaurants and other shops. APOLLONIA

Apollonia that is also called ‘Stavri’ is the capital of Sifnos since 1836. It is located in the centre of Sifnos and is built amphitheatrically in more than three hills. The night life of Sifnos begins and finishes in Apollonia. Walking in the traditionally built streets you can visit many sightseeing and admire the traditional architecture of Cyclades. ARTEMONAS

Artemonas is located 1.5 km north of Apollonia. It is a real jewel of Sifnos, with mansions of neoclassical order, with gardens and flowery courtyards. In the top of the hill two windmills remain in good condition. From up there, the view of Sifnos is panoramic. You can survey the around islands, Kastro, even the port of Kamares. KASTRO

Kastro means Castle. Kastro exists since the ancient years up to today and is built on ancient citadel, the « asty » like Irodotos reports, and is an open museum. Kastro was the capital of Sifnos at ancient, the medieval and newer period. The visitor enters in Kastro from the old entries – galleries, which in the past the locals secured, in order to be protected from the pirates. PLATIS GIALOS

Platis Gialos is the largest beach of Sifnos and one from the largest in Cyclades. The village, apart from his cosmopolitan style, is also a place where traditional ceramic are made. You will find many potteries, where you can watch also the production of ceramic.Incredible view of Platis Gialos you can find from a beautiful monastery called ‘Panagia tou Vounou’. CHERONISSOS

Cheronissos is located in the northern edge of Sifnos, 15 km from Artemonas. On your way to Cheronissos you will pass by the regions Diavroucha and Troulaki. The small gulf of Cheronissos, is a natural shelter for every boat. It is worthed visiting for the unique peacefulness that offers, combining the sea with the simplicity of the islander landscape. FAROS

Faros is the unique village in Sifnos where you can swim in three different beaches. Going therefore to Faros you will see the homonym beach, little far away you will find the beach of Glyfo, while behind the village you find yourself in the beach Fasolou. The Lighthouse, that gave its name to the village, is located in the entry of the port and near it there is the Monastery of the Cross, from where you can enjoy the incredible view to the famous Monastery Panagia Crissopigi. CHRISSOPIGI

The region of Crissopigi is considered one from the most beautiful regions on the island. It is located 10 km south of Apollonia between Faros and Platis Gialos. In the small peninsula, that Sifnos is famous for, there is the Monastery Panagia Crissopigi. The local tradition reports that the icon of Virgin Mary that is found in its interior, reached the island from the sea, while the crevice that separates the small peninsula from the mainand, is one from Her miracles.
